You're trusting us with stories about someone you love. Here is exactly what happens to what you share, in plain words.

Who runs My Little Shadow

My Little Shadow is a small independent project based in British Columbia, Canada. If you have a question about your information, write to [email protected].

The short version

• We don't keep chat transcripts, photos or voice recordings.
• A paid reading is kept for up to 60 days, so it can be shown to you again on the same device.
• Star ratings are kept. A note you write about a reading, and the reading itself if you tick the box, are kept for up to 12 months so we can improve. Ratings and notes are stored with your purchase's checkout ID, which links them to your purchase.
• We never see your card number.
• We never sell personal information.
• We don't send marketing emails.

Your conversation

What you type is sent to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI, so it can write the replies and your reading. We don't keep chat transcripts.

There is one exception. If you buy a reading, its finished text is kept with your purchase for up to 60 days, so it can be shown to you again when you come back on the same device and browser.

Photos

If you add a photo, it is resized in your own browser and then sent to Anthropic, only to help shape the reading. We never store photos.

Voice

If you speak your answers, your voice is sent to OpenAI to turn it into text. When the reading is spoken aloud, OpenAI's text-to-speech creates that voice. We never store voice recordings. The words being spoken are held for up to 10 minutes so they can be played.

The AI companies we use

Anthropic and OpenAI process this content under their API terms. They state that they do not train their models on API data, and they may keep it for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe sends your receipt.

Feedback

At the end of a reading you can tell us how we did. Your star rating is kept. If you rate a reading under 3 stars, you can also write a few words about what missed, and tick a box to include the reading itself. The box starts unticked. Your note, and the reading if you included it, are kept for up to 12 months so we can improve how readings are written.

If you tap "I'd want one" on printed cards, we only count the tap. No personal details are attached.

Keeping things fair

To stop abuse, we use your IP address to limit how many readings and messages can be requested in a day. Those counters expire after about a day.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to count visits and a few key moments on mylittleshadow.com: a chat or candle being started, a checkout starting, a purchase, a card being saved or shared, and a rating. Links in shared cards carry a tag so we can tell when a share brings someone new. Google Analytics uses cookies.

Your browser also remembers a few things on your own device: whether voice is on or off, whether you tapped the printed-card button, your conversation and photo while you go through checkout, so you don't lose your place, and, if you buy a reading, the reading itself for up to 60 days so you can open it again here.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare.

Where your information is processed

The services we use are based mainly in the United States and Canada, so your information may be processed in either country.

Your choices and rights

Want to know what we hold about you, or want a kept reading or your feedback deleted? Email [email protected] and we'll take care of it. We don't keep accounts, so tell us roughly when you visited and the email on your receipt, if you bought a reading.

For now, the simplest way to ask anything about your information is to write to [email protected].

We may update this page from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top.
